About 2km to the northeast of the old town of Hoi An, between De Vong river and Tra Que waterweed swamp, Tra Que vegetable village in Tra Que hamlet, Cam Ha commune, Hoi An city has been famous for a long time for many vegetable products grown on fertile soil that are fertilized with waterweed from the river. So they have theirs own unique flavors.
Up to now, Tra Que vegetable village is famous for having more than 20 types of vegatables and herbs, especially there are many types that their flavors are the tastiest, such as: basil, basil seed, perilla… When mixing types of vegetables together, 5 tastes will meet: spicy, sour, sweet, bitter and acrid. Thanks to that special flavor, Tra Que vegetables have contributed to the popularity of the native dishes available in Hoi An and Quang Nam.
In Tra Que Vegetable village , there are a few dozen households which both grow clean vegetables and do business in the form of “homestay” – for Vietnamese or foreign tourists to participate in the work of planting clean vegetables with farmers.
